Serranos, Pedralba Chulilla

The
region of La Serrania is rich in visual beauty and is crossed by the river
Turia. The heart of the region is the
Benageber
reservoir which is spectacularly beautiful. Some of the most important
forests of the Valencian region are to be found here –
Aras de Alpuente,
Titaguas,
Tuejar,
Benageber
and Chelva.
Mountaineering, trekking, climbing, canoeing, cycling, and horse riding etc.
are amongst the many sports which are practiced here. The most well known
monument is the Roman aqueduct of Pena Corta in
Calles,
There are also two spa health resorts in
Chulilla
and Verche.
Wine producing areas are in Alto
Turia,
Villar del Alrzobispo
and Pedralba.
Alcublas
still has some original ancient windmills, which are worth seeing.
Benageber
is well worth a visit, set on the beautiful reservoir surrounded by pine
forests it also attracts many visitors! There is also a young peoples
holiday centre. The Barchel waterfalls are between here and
Chelva.
Bugarra
also attracts visitors as through its sandy river banks.
The
old town of Chelva
with its Arab and Jewish quarters is between the two reservoirs of
Loriguilla
and Benageber.
Chulilla
is visited by many for its spa waters which are supposed to be beneficial
for various medical ailments.
Pedralba
is known for its unusual tiny canals, which run through the centre right by
the early 20th century houses. There are also some houses of
importance as well as rests of the ancient wall and an 18th
century church.
