Hoya Buñol, Cheste, Chiva, Godelleta
|
A
very rugged area drained by the
Chiva,
Magro
and Buñol
rivers with mountains of up to 1,000m high, forests and paths which are
ideal for trekking along since there are numerous mountain springs. All of
these rough and wild aspects were the reason that this area was called the
"Swiss Valencia" during the renaissance. The Valencian Community motor
Circuit located next to Cheste has rapidly become a world class racing
track. The towns of
Alborache,
Buñol,
Cheste,
Chiva,
Godelleta,
Macastre,
Siete Aguas
and Yátova
can be found in the region.
Apart from its 13th
century castle, Buñol
is also famous for its Tomato fiesta when people throw thousands of kilos of
tomatoes at each other!
Cheste
is home to the well known Ricardo Tormo Racing Track.
The old town of
Chiva
lies at the foot of the ruins of the ancient castle on the hill. For golf
lovers the 18 hole El Bosque golf course is also near.
A
surprisingly good road with spectacular views leads to the village of
Dos Aguas
and the Pico del Ave mountain. The area is known for its rugged countryside
and cave art.
Godelleta
is a traditional agricultural village surrounded by citrus groves.
Macastre’s
main square is surrounded by trees of over a century and typical houses of
the area.
Siete Aguas
is a well known beauty spot visited by nature lovers for its surrounding
districts.
